One wondrous evening in Seattle I was totally enchanted. Going from a land of mountains and dry sage in Colorado to the seascape of the Pacific Northwest is a dramatic change to the senses; with the gently falling rain, the ocean's salty scent, and the sailboats floating lazily like giant birds on a giant pond. We stood mesmerized watching the ships for quite some time and then decided to have dinner on the waterfront deck of our hotel. The breeze was a little chilly but undaunted we "layered up" as we say in the mountains, unwilling to give up our intoxication with the waterscape. I caught our reflection in the window and smiled. Afterward, we walked hand in hand along the waterfront as the sun slowly descended into the water of the sea.

The description of your evening sounds so magical and I love the photos too! The reflection is so perfect since it captures you, the photographer so wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteYour photographs...invoke emotion. Thanks to you for your work. My favorite of these: #3. The contrast of the sky & water. Amazing moment, how fortunate you are in a continual state of observation for all of us.
ReplyDeleteThank you for providing these glimpses of Seattle. I especially love the first photo.
ReplyDeleteJulie: What a lovely romantic evening you describe. The last photo is magical.
ReplyDeleteVery nice photo's. I love the reflection.
ReplyDeleteI love these "atmosphere of the day" images ...and the virtual invitation to your dinner waterside.
ReplyDeleteI love these "atmosphere of the day" shots ... and the virtual invitation to your dinner, waterside.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the Seattle waterfront, and you capture it so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteBrings back many great memories of a wonderful place, thanks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I love #2, so cool how you captured you enjoying the restaurant and the scenery and with a camera in your hands, almost looks like you layered it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the wonderful comments! The reflection of me and my "date" is not layered. I'm an opportunistic photographer as you might have noticed and rarely plan or have a tripod. But I do carry that camera everywhere to capture just the right moment when it presents itself. Thank you all for visiting!
ReplyDeleteThe picture with the reflection is awesone. I captures everything - you, the water, the atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteI love the last photograph, the way you have captured the landscape is amazing :).
ReplyDeleteAlso thank you for your recent comment, I will always keep a eye out on your blog. I have started to get intrested in photography myself, nothing like yours thought.

If you would take a look and give any critism I would be most thankful to hear off a fellow photographer x
I do like the reflection picture but I don't know why....it seems abstract but so simple.
ReplyDeleteThat bottom photo is kind of what the view is from one of my dream homes in my imagination! (LOL!) Beautiful shots, Julie, and I too love the reflection!

What an amazing trip to Seattle. I love your photos! I can smell the salty air and hear the birds:)
ReplyDeleteJulie - what I meant was it has a layered look to it. I know it is not layered! You did a great job with it!
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos...great reflection! I can just see the coolness in the air.
ReplyDeleteI really like the reflection capture (2nd photo).
ReplyDeleteThanks so much everyone! I wasn't sure if anyone else would appreciate a somewhat "personal" photo like the reflection. What a great surprise to find so much interest! BTW, I don't have anything against layering or altering photos. That is part of the "fine art" label and some of my favorite photographers are very adept at it. Thanks for your comments. I appreciate your participation!
ReplyDeleteLoved all the photos especially the dramatic sky. Will be going to Ft. Myers Florida at end of Oct. So will get to see the ocean then
ReplyDeleteThank you for your ever so reflective photos. They are truly stunning, sounded like quite a date. I always enjoy myself on your amazing blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on mine recently and ya'll have a wonderful day full of blessings!!!

I love the last photo! So beautiful! Your pictures really do capture magic.
ReplyDeleteYour description of your day, along with one of your photos, makes a perfect greeting card.
ReplyDeleteBlessings.
Julie, this was lovely, so beautifully said, and the pictures are wonderful. I love the reflections too.
ReplyDeleteJulie, as a mountain girl here in MT, I keep contemplating making a move there. Looking at your photos one could feel the wind, hear the gulls...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Love the description, Julie. the window reflection shot is awesome. I like how the reflection came out so strong with sky and all visible with just a hint of whats going on inside.
ReplyDeletewonderful
I know what you mean. I spent two weeks in the south plains of Romania, bathing in the Danube river and now I`m back in the mountains.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
The depth of the clouds and the water is truly beautiful. The reflection shot is so unusual - nice...
