Exploring Independence, Colorado was a fun day of discovery. This old ghost town was originally established after gold was struck nearby on July 4, 1879, hence the name Independence. Most of the cabin ruins were only one room cabins, but this cabin had two rooms making an interesting crooked collection of doorways leading to a scenic view. Do you see why I came up with the title, Raven's Roost? Hope you like it!

Raven's Roost
A rustic abandoned log cabin with three crooked doorways leads the eye to a scenic mountain view. But wait. I think a raven has decided to move in! This photograph is a perfect way to add a touch of rustic charm to your home, office, or bedroom decor.

ReplyDeleteHi Kalei! I have seen this cabin photographed many times. It's a popular shot with the crooked doorways. I haven't found any with the mountain behind it yet. That's cool that your friend has been there too and photographed this cabin. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeletemy bad!, not that exact cabin, just the idea of using the frame of the door leading to the outside... he also used windows to mimic the same... sadly, he's no longer around to display more of his creativity.
DeleteAh! I understand. It is a popular composition to shoot through doors and windows. I have quite a few myself in the archives. Sorry to hear your friend is no longer with us though.
DeleteHow beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam!
DeleteThats quite a beautiful shot with great angles and dimensions. lovely rich colors and tones. Super work, Julie!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gary. It's almost too much for one photo for me. My favorites are more minimalist.
