Southwestern Red Country

I am having a love affair. It has been enticing me for many years off and on, but has come to full bloom this past spring. I am truly in love with the desert southwest. I love the sienna canyons with their majestic towering cliffs. I love the hardy desert blooms that struggle and wait patiently for that monsoon rain. I love the bluest of skies and the spectacular sunsets. And maybe most of all, I love the vastness of the landscapes. It puts you in your place instantly. You can not help but gaze in wonderment at the grand glory of it all.

Thanks for dropping by! I would love to hear your comments.

  2. Stunning! And I agree with Karen; the way you described it makes my eyes linger. I've had many "favorites" of yours; now this one is. :)

You're inspiring me to get going with my plans to gut and re-do my offen/den. I'd love to hang a piece of your southwestern work in it. Some day... *sigh*

Love the horses against the vast canyons. They appear so little and lovable. :)

  3. I just crave that kind of landscape myself, though I don't get down to the Southwest as much as I'd like. There's something about eroded rock that really speaks to me! I love that you can see the passage of geologic time, a scale so unlike our day-to-day measure of the passing moments that it's hard to grasp anywhere else. You take lovely photos of those red rock walls!

    1. Thank you Naquility. One of my "bucket list" things to do is to go on a wild horse hunt to photograph a wild herd in Colorado. Getting to them can be the hard part, therefore I haven't pulled it together yet.
