Rocky Mountain Waterfall on the Roaring Fork River, Colorado

Colorado Rocky Mountain waterfall cascades over boulders and rocks into an aqua blue pool

Can you imagine sitting on this rock, listening to the rush and tumble of the never ending water? Do you ever wonder where the water comes from? I always wonder in amazement that the strong flow never stops. This waterfall on the Roaring Fork River near Aspen, Colorado is not very far from the Continental Divide. The winter skies bring snow and the slow melt sustains the mountain rivers until the cycle begins again. And again. And again.

“Do you have patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear? Can you remain unmoving till the right action arises by itself?” - Lao Tzu

April 2011 Free Desktop Wallpaper Calendar

04-11 Spring Daffodil by Rock in Snow WallpaperHappy Spring to the northern hemisphere! I think those of us in the States are very happy it is here. We have had a rough winter! The Rocky Mountain foothills where I live had a little snow shower yesterday but it melted and started the greening process. Soon my daffodils will be up and looking very similar to this one I shot last spring. It always amazes me how these tenacious delicate flowers push right up through the heavy spring snow undaunted and ready for a sunny day. I hope you enjoy your new April 2011 desktop wallpaper calendar and that it reminds you of sunny days to come.

Natural Objects of Art

A framed photo of a mountain mahogany bush with its russet winter leaves contrasts with the soft tones of a fresh snow in Colorado.
Nature is my inspiration. Do you remember when you were a child and every little flower and bug in your backyard fascinated you? It is still that way with me when I allow it. That is when I pull out my camera and recapture the natural world of my childhood. My recent photos have sparked a debate in my family as to which one is the "best" or a personal favorite. Tell me which one you prefer.
