A cool misty morning on the water of Elliott Bay in Seattle provides a view of Mount Rainier rising out of the fog like a dream. The wind beat against us as we leaned forward urging the huge ferry forward through the green water. Like thirsty dogs we sniffed the sea scented air willing our bodies to remember every detail. The clouds parted and the sun came out. A rainbow appeared over the seaport of Seattle as a group of laughing people floated past us in their sailboat enjoying the warm sunlight. It was a moment to remember.

Julie: Each one has its special allure, however the middle one of Mount Rainier is mystical.
ReplyDeleteTotally captures the feeling of Seattle. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Love the low hanging fog on the Mt. Rainier shot and the cool tones!

All of them are very striking, but I'm partial to the last one. Something about the Needle and the sailboat in BW...!

Thanks for the comments! I have to agree with Laurie and Harold. Those two are my favorites of this group too. They have very different moods so it is hard for me to choose.
ReplyDeleteOh Julie, the blue of the central image, it goes directly into my heart - a wonderful sight. Thank you!

Beautiful shot of Mount Rainier...that mountain is majestic.
ReplyDeleteYour photos always take me to "the place."
ReplyDeleteIf I get to Seattle some day, I will feel that I've been there because of your recent photos.
Nice shots, as usual. I don't know the photographer's lingo, but I always feel that everything is so well proportioned, that you capture just the right amount of everything.
I've seen pictures of Mt. Rainier before, but never one from that vantage point... beautiful and magical. I'd love to be able to enjoy that view in person one day.
ReplyDeleteOh my...that photo, Mount Rainier Dream, is splendid...So majestic!
ReplyDeleteI like them all! Great captures, Julie. The many moods of Seattle. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are all wonderful but my favorite is the sailboat! Amazing composition.
ReplyDeleteI love that photo of Mount Rainier! Seattle is such a fabulous city!
ReplyDeleteI'm lovin' that rainbow and Mount Rainier. The picture of Mount Rainier reminds me of winter due to the hues presented. Have a great night.
ReplyDeleteLove that photo of Mount Rainier. Nice! =)
ReplyDeleteI can't visit out there so your photos are helping me enjoy the beauty of the area. Thank you for capturing the essence of a special place.
ReplyDeleteThe photos are wonderful, your writing like poetry.
ReplyDeleteThe verdict is in. Mount Rainier is the favorite of this group, with the Sailboat a distant second. Thanks so much for the feedback!
ReplyDeleteThe Mount Rainier one is definitely my favourite.
ReplyDeleteOh man, they are all cool, but I have to throw the mobkey wrench in here and say I love the Waterfront with rainbow! Great moment and that sky is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThese are AMAZING Captures. Don't know which i like more. Congrats on these, really like them.

What a beautiful image of Mt. Rainier! It's stunning... love the mist.
ReplyDeleteThank you all so very much. And thanks Gary, I'm glad the rainbow shot got a couple votes!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Julie
I should think there are people whose greatest passion is photographing Mt. Rainier to the exclusion of almost everything else. Of the photos above, I most like the sailboat though.
ReplyDeleteLove the B&W with the sailboat. Classic.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great view of Mt. Rainier. Somehow a mountain that always is snow covered and is over 14,200 feet tall never fails to look good, especially when viewed from sea level, even from 75 miles away.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful but I think the other two actually capture more of the essence of Seattle. The large, very modern buildings set behind the ages old waterfront are a striking contrast to each other and the rainbow is a wonderful addition. As to the sailboat, Seattle has always been known as the pleasure boat capital of the country with a higher percentage of boats to residents than anyplace else in the USA. Your photo does a great job of showing how boating is enjoyed in the Seattle area.
