Holiday Christmas Greeting Cards

Well my friends, it has been awhile since we last chatted. Since then I have replaced my old computer that was having some old age difficulties handling my large volume of photography. It did not take long to buy a new computer, but the file transfers were a bit trickier. After some careful planning, one failed attempt, and much reading I succeeded in migrating and restoring almost 80 GB of photography files.  Whew!  It feels great to be done!

I have also been squeezing in time to work on some new holiday designs for this years Christmas cards. Here are my first three that are ready to go for the 2012 season. I hope you like them. And as always, I appreciate your comments and feedback. Cheers!

A Colorado Christmas Celebration

My family celebrates the Christmas holiday and we are now just one week away. It is time to finish up any last minute preparations and get ready to make merry. I am taking some time off to relax and enjoy my family. My 81 year old mom is visiting and we love to gab and catch up. Ric will be baking frosted sugar cookies that rival Martha Stewart's and Tara will be joining in on all of the above! So I'll wish you a joyous holiday with your loved ones and see you after Christmas! Peace, Julie

My Rocky Mountain home with a fresh dusting of snow.

A festive table sets the mood for Christmas dinner.
Grandma is hiding in the background.

A collection of plush white Christmas bears adds a bit of whimsy.

Oh Tannenbaum!

Fort Collins, Colorado twinkles with its own parade of lights in the distance.

That's me hiding behind the tree.
See you soon!

Crystalline Roses

Crystalline roses sparkled in the pale morning light. The fog drifted through the trees coating every leaf and bud with a shimmering cold frost. My breath steamed. My heart quieted. Every season has its own exquisite grace. I had discovered the shy secret beauty of a cold winter's day. A rose. How unexpected.

Christmas Tree Hunt

Every year for the last ten we have ventured out into the forest to cut our Christmas tree. We usually start searching for the right tree that we want to invite into our home for the holidays in the fall, when the ground is still bare and it is much easier to walk through the rugged terrain.

Cutting your own Christmas tree can be very satisfying. First you have to hunt one down. Then after stalking it for awhile and making sure there is not a better candidate to be found, you wait for the Christmas season to arrive. Finally it is time and you are ready for your tree, but you look at your mate and say, "Where did we see that tree?" Finally, memories intact and boots on, you trudge through snow to where you remember you found the tree, and with a rather small but dangerously sharp hand saw you cut it down and drag it home. Mission accomplished!

We have a forest of primarily Ponderosa Pines and Douglas Firs around our home and the little firs make the best Christmas trees. They smell like lemons when freshly cut and are soft to the touch. Plus they always grow at least two feet after you bring them inside.
