I-80 Road Trip: Colorado to Ohio

Road view in mirrorSome of you may remember my road trip last month from Colorado to Ohio. I thought I would share a few photos from that non-stop whirlwind tour. We started bright and early on a Saturday morning and made it to our destination by Sunday night. That is pretty good time for 1300 miles. We had a fun family visit squeezed in between our obligations before we headed home. On the return trip we had one little glitch of a spark coil going bad on our truck. Apparently, our desert rat truck did not like the humidity either. Then it was back on the road. Some of these photographs were taken in a moving vehicle at interstate speeds. That might explain some of the blur and bugs!

This glass church with post and beam construction is exceptionally beautiful.

Rob's Nap
Rob takes a nap in the jump seat of the truck. He ended up in many peculiar positions trying to get comfortable but this was the cutest.

Worst Moment
Our truck breaks down in Iowa City. We spent the evening and next morning with repairs sitting in this parking lot.

After almost 2600 miles of driving within six days, we are all a bit weary.

  4. Thanks so much for sharing your trip, Julie! You got some really cool shots. I know how tricky it can be shooting out of a moving car, so I'm very impressed! That church is way cool. You have some sweet and lovely pictures here.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos Julie. In a few years time I'll be travelling with my sister across America starting from New York City to LA and I can't wait to see it again, this time I'll be chronicling my journeys and hopefully my photos will turn out as good as yours :)

  9. Thank you all for the wonderful comments. I loved the glass church too and would have enjoyed stopping to get some better photos. The sunset was a welcome home that amazed us. It penetrated just how much we love Colorado!

BTW, a friend translated the Chinese comment from EulaliaS. It was so beautiful I wanted to share it with all of you.

"The river is always the same. But it is always
    new water."

    Cheers!

  12. Sounds like a great trip except for the auto trouble. I'm loving the wind turbine shot, especially. Also Rob's Nap. but I saw that on Flickr. :)

  14. Thanks, Julie! I almost feel like I went along ... but without the car trouble! Ha! Loved all the shots. When we lived in the mid-West those happy face water towers were often the pick-me-up we needed on a long flat stretch. I loved it, and all your shots. Rob was cute, but so was Dulcie, keeping Ric company while driving. Great chronicle of the whole trip.

  16. though the glass church and the sunset are my favorite shots i'm most impressed that your mother is a great grandmother (4 times). she's clearly taken care of her health really well. i'm sure she's happy to see all these babies wondering around her house too. glad you had a nice trip. have a great day.
